Hi,
In a recent post I asked the question: "𝗜𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝘀𝘂𝗺 𝘂𝗽 𝗶𝗻 𝗮 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗲 𝗮𝘀 𝗮𝗻 𝗔𝗗𝗜. 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘀𝗮𝘆?" So, I collected all the replies, words and thoughts and all for fun, I've wrapped them all up in a conversation style reply. From all those replies, this is what I saw when I read the comments. Read on. 𝗤: Hello, what do you do? 𝗬𝗼𝘂: Well I'm a Driving Instructor. But actually that's not my job. 𝗤: What do you mean? 𝗬𝗼𝘂: Well, my job is to help others achieve. 𝗤: You mean succeed in learning to drive? 𝗬𝗼𝘂: Yes, but that's only the end result of what I do. It's the bit in the middle. That's where the magic happens. 𝗤: What do you mean, magic happens? 𝗬𝗼𝘂: Well, really I'm a facilitator. As a Driving Instructor I help people achieve goals in life that they can only achieve by learning to drive safely. Some find going through that learning journey has a profound effect on them. 𝗤: Profound? In what way? 𝗬𝗼𝘂: Well, they learn a lot about themselves, their strengths, their weaknesses. They become empowered to succeed in something they never thought they could ever, ever do. For some, the personal growth they go through is life changing. Their confidence grows, their belief in them self grows. They become more positive about the challenges life throws at them, how they can meet them and what they will do next. They learn life skills, how to reflect on their learning, find solutions to problems, take responsibility for what they need to do, by when and how. That helps them learn and achieve goals. Some achieve greater freedom, better job opportunities. For some, going through their learning journey to drive safely for life changes their life, overnight! All this happens because I said to them on that first driving lesson: 𝗠𝗲: "What's your goal for today? What would you like to achieve, improve, develop, feel more confident about?" Their answer on that first lesson? Well, that was the one you gave to me just now when we started this conversation. They said "What do you mean?" Now, their answer is different. Now they have experienced what achieving goals is like. Their answer to what they would like to achieve today has changed. Now it's.. 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗺: "My next goal please, let's do it!" As teachers, coaches, facilitators, instructors, we sometimes don't realise the impact we have on others as we go about doing our job as a 'Driving Instructor.' But then that's not our job, is it? This period of lock-down is a pause. Remember who you are and what you do for others. You are awesome! Continue to invest in your well being and personal development. So, when we come out the other end, they'll be no stopping you! I am happy to help you! So, here's an open invite.
